Private Software & Service Recommendations

In this video, I discuss my personal software/service recommendations for users who are concerned about privacy (and security to a lesser extent, not because security isn't important... it definitely is, but because privacy and security are two different things). None of the programs or services mentioned in this video are sponsored, but I aim to give explanations for why I recommend (or don't recommend) them. Every provider claims to be private and secure, so how do you know which one to trust? The more stuff you can do yourself, the less you have to rely on trusting others. TLDR: Privacy isn't just a matter of picking the "right" provider, it's also about your own due diligence and the techniques you employ.

@gianmarco@videos.gianmarco.gg I've used Delta Chat before, not sure how I feel about it, but it would eliminate the social limitation since basically everyone has an email. Also didn't know Fluxer were working on E2EE, so that's good to know!

For private instant messaging I'd recommend you take a look at Delta Chat. It's based on email tech, but it abstracts it to make it very private and user friendly. Also Fluxer has announced that they're working on implementing E2EE for DMs and group chats (not communities).
